#2: They aren't Mexican.

Regarding the small size of the park: I hope the schools are designed so that the recreational spaces (gyms, fields, and swimming pool) are available for joint use - Although the memorial park is only 1/3 acre, the field space would provide a huge amount of open space for the neighborhood.

I'm more interested in how they transform the south side of Wilshire, since they own the surface parking lot and the orange Lennar building. I hope their plans include tying the two sides of the street together with a more pedestrian-friendly plan than DOT came up with the last time. I'm also hoping for a parking structure.

The Development Agreement also allows LACMA to build just about any structure they want without public hearings, as long as they don't exceed about 1 million SF and they keep the open space. That's why they can keep it a secret.

Regarding open space/greenery at LACMA West:

This site has very specific open space requirements, as it falls under the same Development Agreement that allowed the Palazzos and the Villas to be built, and that requires the Ross store site to be developed only into senior housing.

LACMA has to reserve a huge part of the lot for open space, with landscaping, trees, and benches. LACMA is also required to keep the site open to the public every day, for most of the day, and they have to have an entrance at Wilshire and Ogden as well as at Fairfax and 6th.

Now, can someone just tell me how they got permission to remove my crosswalk at Fairfax and 6th? They also took out the bus stop at 6th. So much for walkability and ease of transit use.

Rocky Delgadillo should threaten to fine the taggers and their families for each and every illegal scribble. Then, he should agree to go into talks with the taggers, and come up with a compromise whereby the taggers pledge to not do any new tagging, but the City will allow them to keep all of their old tags up.

Also, the taggers can go back to their tagging sites whenever they want and turn them all into computer-generated, electronic grafitti signs.
